World Cup 2026 awarded to USA, Mexico and Canada joint-bid at Fifa Congress on eve of 2018 tournament in Russia



North America selected to host 2026 World Cup by Fifa nations



The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the 23rd FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international men's football championship contested by the national teams of the member associations of FIFA.



Two official bids to host the event were submitted to FIFA: a joint bid by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, and a bid by Morocco. On 13 June 2018, the 68th FIFA Congress in Moscow, Russia; Canada, Mexico and the United States won the final vote. The United Bid received 134 votes, Morocco received 65 votes while one country voted for neither.



The tournament will be the first to feature 48 teams after FIFA approved expansion from 32 teams.
